I moved to Canada in 2017 from England, where I practiced as a nurse practitioner in primary care. The move to this new location led to a new life and new career, with completion of the Masters in Social Work from the University of Calgary in 2020. Right at the beginning of the covid epidemic, I started working as a counsellor within a large community based counselling organization.
I have performed counselling for five to a diverse range of clients, from children to adults, from individuals to families. Supervising both Masters of Counselling Psychology and Masters of Social Work students has become one of the greatest parts of my counselling practice. I have 5 years of experience supervising students, receiving guidance on ways to provide effective supervision from a range of experts in this field, including Bruce Wampold PhD. I practice supervision in a collaborative, strengths focused manner with a focus on the foundational skills of effective psychotherapy. I place more of an emphasis on the student than on the client, helping the student to engage in the practices that would optimize the client outcome. I am approved by Yorkville, and have experience working with the University of Calgary. I provide supervision remotely.
